Happy Wednesday! I’m celebrating the middle of the week by traveling to a city near me with some of my friends for the day. Since my semester has been shortened due to COVID today is our one day of no classes and I’m going to make the most out of it!
Today I will be participating in Can’t-Wait Wednesday, a weekly meme where you share an upcoming anticipated release. This is hosted by Wishful Endings!
This week I will be featuring…
Charming as a Verb by Ben Philippe
Release: October 13, 2020
Publisher: Balzer + Bray
Genres: Young Adult, Contemporary, Romance
Synopsis via Goodreads: Henri “Halti” Haltiwanger can charm just about anyone. He is a star debater and popular student at the prestigious FATE academy, the dutiful first-generation Haitian son, and the trusted dog walker for his wealthy New York City neighbors. But his easy smiles mask a burning ambition to attend his dream college, Columbia University.
There is only one person who seems immune to Henri’s charms: his “intense” classmate and neighbor Corinne Troy. When she uncovers Henri’s less-than-honest dog-walking scheme, she blackmails him into helping her change her image at school. Henri agrees, seeing a potential upside for himself.
Soon what started as a mutual hustle turns into something more surprising than either of them ever bargained for. . . .
This is a sharply funny and insightful novel about the countless hustles we have to keep from doing the hardest thing: being ourselves.
Not only do I adore this cover, but the premise sounds so so SO good! It’s got a little bit of everything: a hate-to-love romance, it takes place in the vibrant city of New York, there are tensions about college (as a college junior I love to see it since I went through the same thing lol), and… dogs! The characters seem hilarious and full of depth, and I cannot wait to meet them. Basically, I’m dying to have this book in my hands because it sounds like such a fun, refreshing contemporary! 👏✨
Have you heard of Charming as a Verb? If so, do you think this a book you’d enjoy? What are some other releases that you are excited for?
Until next time, happy reading! ♡
